We all have those moments of realization; the great “aha!” moments, or quiet moments when we have sudden insight. The moments when we “get it,” or the moments when we realize how off-base we’ve been. In most cases, they are little openings, moments of breath, when we can see through the veil we have erected for ourselves – the veil of illusion, of false belief, or the mask of ego.
This is a collection of those moments in my life that have led to a personal and spiritual awakening. I call them THE HAMMOCK EPIPHANIES because the first one happened while I was lying in a hammock, not doing anything special, not even trying, but slowing down enough to let that breath of realization rock the hammock and change my life.
As the Buddhists say, we can all reach Buddhahood because we are already Buddhas…underneath. We just have to realize that.
I am no expert. I am not a spiritual teacher. I am simply a woman learning from life and opening to the realizations that come. I believe these epiphanies are available to all of us. We don’t need to be Zen masters or Yogic gurus. We don’t have to be anything special. We just have to be present, pay attention, and be willing to let our illusions melt away the same way we let our cares release on a sunny, lazy afternoon in the hammock.
I hope these stories help you find your own epiphanies and lead you to awakening to a more easeful, more purposeful, and more joyful life.
